Description of Grant

A one-time cash award of up to $1,500 given by the Peekskill Rotary Club Foundation to a member of the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce who registers and completes a program of professional development.  Such programs may include college courses, industry specific curricula, leadership or management training, etc.

Purpose of Grant

To continue the highest level of professionalism and community spirit in the Hudson Valley business community as exemplified by Larry DeNoia; to enhance an individual’s capability for professional success and contributions to our community; to highlight and encourage the importance of continuing professional growth and skills development; to enhance the Chamber’s and Rotary’s Spirit of Service; and to further ties between the two organizations.

Grant Qualifications

  • Member of the Hudson Valley Chamber of Commerce in good standing for at least one year.
  • Demonstrated commitment to community service.
  • Demonstrated observance of business practices found in Rotary’s 4 Way Test.
  • Clear anticipated benefit of development program to enhanced professional achievement and contribution to the community.

Related Factor

  • No Chamber member may receive more than one grant.
  • Members of the Grant Selection Committee are not eligible for the grant.
  • Grant recipients must present a certificate or other document showing successful completion of the development program.
  • Grants will be awarded at the time of grant recipient selection.
  • Grant recipients will be expected to attend a Rotary luncheon meeting as a guest following completion of the program to give a verbal report of his/her experience, value in development, etc.
  • The grant will be announced during the Chamber’s annual awards dinner in February.
  • The target for the first award will be the Chamber’s awards event in February 2021.

Annual Timeline

  • Labor Day: Chamber begins soliciting applications.
  • October 30: Applications forwarded to Selection Committee.
  • Mid-November: Selection Committee picks recipient.
  • February: Recipient announced at Chamber awards dinner.
